Day 13 – A Guilty Pleasure

Ok, have you seen the ridiculous, super cheesy, super 80’s film Mannequin?

No? Ok… I’ll explain.

Basically the adorably cute Andrew McCarthy plays an artist who can’t hold down a job, one being when he makes a mannequin (Kim Cattrall!) that he feels is so lifelike and truly his work of art. He later saves the life of the owner of a giant department store and she rewards him by giving him a job, where he then sees his mannequin and she comes to life!

The catch is, she only comes to life for him, and if anyone else comes in, she turns back into a mannequin and he just looks like a crazy person. The mannequin ends up getting him a better job at the department store as the front window designer, and he gets to stay up all night with her alone where they fall in love:

Of course there’s other mischief going on because his ex-girlfriend works for a rival department store and also gets jealous of the mannequin, as well as a night-security guard and his dog that suspect something is up with that mannequin. Also, his friend Hollywood, is HILARIOUS and seriously is one of the best parts of that movie.

She has a back story as well (because, she’s not just any mannequin that comes to life, no she’s an ancient Egyptian princess!) that is one of my favorite parts (it’s at the beginning).

ALSO, it has this song that I absolutely love:

They made a sequel, but it’s really not that good.

Yeah… call me guilty. I love that movie.
